Description

Sh2-142 is an HII region.  Bright stars associated with the nebula blast electrons off hydrogen atoms.  In the process of re-capturing electrons some transition through the Balmer Alpha energy level emitting most of the red light we see.  In addition there are Oxygen and Sulfur transitions adding interest to the nebula.
This is HOO with Hydrogen as red and Oxygen as teal.  Sulfur is added in equal parts red, green, and blue (white).  12 H-alpha, 10 OIII, and 7 SII exposures were combined.  Data from 21 and 24 January 2022 (MST) were used.
Star Reduction in AstroPixelProcessor was applied, 40%.
