Description

Shot this with my stellarvue refractor. I hope to one day have a true planetary rig, but for now I make due with what I have. This turned out far better than I ever thought it would.

Last night was a late night but fun seeing what my scope can do. It is not designed for planetary imaging, but thought I would try anyway. This is Jupiter and if you zoom in on the middle left you can see a black spot that is the shadow of Europa as it crosses Jupiter. You can't see the moon as I assume it falls within Earth's shadow. That the two faint white spots on the bottom left and top right of the planet are two of Jupiter's moon IO and Ganymede. You can also just make out the great red spot in the upper right of Jupiter.
