Description

I was able to image the Transit of Mercury across the Sun on 11/11/2019 using both my DSLR and planetary camera imaging setups. I wanted the wide view afforded by the large DSLR full frame sensor, but also wanted to do some lucky imaging with the high frame rate planetary camera. I captured first/second contact with the DSLR to make sure I didn't miss it, but for third/fourth contact I decided to go with lucky imaging and capture a series of 10 second videos as Mercury approached the edge of the Sun. This one is a few minutes from third contact.

Imaged with a C8 Evo, ZWO ADC, Baader UV-IR Cut Moon & Skyglow filter, and ZWO ASI224MC. Imaging train was configured to give ~F/10. Image capture using Firecapture with gain set at 250 and an exposure of 0.5 ms. Stacking in AutoStakkert3 (best 25% of ~2000 frames captured over 10 seconds).

Original version: Wavelet sharpening in Registax6.

Revision 1: Wavelet sharpening in Registax6. Colorized, sharpened, brightness adjustment,
