Description

I proudly present my first dark nebula and my longest single night exposure, ever.

The nights started very clear and not to cold and ther was no bigger temperature drop expected. The moon was out this night but I didn't care to much. This should be the night for my fist dark nebula and I was aware that they need some extra time. "No problem, the next night should be clear, too. So I can put a few more hours on top", I thought.

I am still a lerner on this hobby and I've learned two things that night:

1. Framing and centering of an object should be well prepared. Usually I do that with some test images, where I can see the object (or parts) and do it "live". This time it went out more complicated, so I decidet to go by coordinates and plate solving.

Unfortunately Dithering and struggeling with PHD2-Calibration together with my small FOV is not a good combination. So the image ran a few arc secs out of my planned center.

2. Don't plan with the weather(forecast). The next night was cloudy....

Anyhow, I am more than pleased with the result even if it will not win any competition.

I have my first dark shark (I was planning for this more than a year) and I have learned a lot of things catching it.

Hope you enjoy it, too!

Mike
