Description

The Angelfish Nebula, also known as Sharpless 264 and the  Lambda Orionis Ring, is an HII region in the upper part (from Northern latitudes) of the Orion molecular cloud complex.

It was imaged over 6 nights as a 6 panel mosaic as the FoV with my Redcat was too small to capture the whole object. The processing was a challenge as there were varying amount of light pollution from moonlight including a full Moon over the acquisition period.

Each panel was RGB 30 x 60 secs each + 80 x 120 secs Ha , 5 hours plus for each of 6 panels totalling over 30 hours of integration, my longest project on a single target yet!

Captured over 6 sessions on 22, 24, 25, 26, 27 Feb, 19 Mar 2022 from my Bortle 5 back garden with Redcat 51 on an iOptron Skyguider Pro (not guided) with ASI 1600 MM Pro mono camera with R, G, B, Ha filters.
