Description

I only intended on giving this one 30 hours, but my test stacks were just looking terrible, so I kept adding more and more data. It did improve things, but I just don't think I can get what I was hoping for with an 8" scope under bright skies - it's really at the cusp of what I can do under this light pollution and I don't intend on doing a galaxy this dim in the future (at least from home). This was one of my toughest images and definitely my toughest broadband image to date.

One thing I do want to call your attention to is the galaxy cluster at the bottom right of the uncropped image. I tried doing a plate solve with PI and didn't get anything on them. I seriously wonder how far away those galaxies are. EDIT: Gary and Johny did the research for me and the answer is 2.5 to 3 BILLION light years away with Johny identifying two at 2.743 and 2.707 billion light years away.
