Description

This is my first attempt on shooting the Andromeda galaxy. It is also my first attempt processing a deep sky object more extensively than I used to do.

A couple of weeks ago I wanted to start getting data in the Andromeda galaxy. I did so quite poorly prepared, and when I was ready to shoot, my battery was dead. I couldn't shoot for a few weeks because of poor weather conditions. Last weekend there was only a small window suitable for imaging and I used that opportunity to the best I could. It was full moon that night, and the seeing was poor, so the conditions weren't the best. Also, I currently have some problems with the backspacing of my imaging camera. Weird CA and coma, while using a flattener. I'm trying to figure out what this is.

In my processing I want to keep everything as natural as possible. Image processing is one thing I know I need to learn a lot about, and I learned a lot by processing this image. Looking at the imaging conditions and my experience at image processing, I'm more than happy creating this image. I have to say I found it quite a big risk to invest in the setup that I recently started using recently, but I now know that astrophotography is something I really love.

If anyone has an idea what the problem is in my OTA, please feel free to comment!
