Description

NGC6960 Western Veil Nebula

The Western Veil Nebula is from the same  Supernova remnant complex as Eastern Veil Nebula. A cloud of ionized gas and dust which are the debris left by the
explosion of a star about 20 times the mass of the Sun.
In this image, red corresponds to the glow of hydrogen, green from sulfur, and blue from oxygen.
The immense explosion happened around 15,000 years
ago, in the Constellation Cygnus.
The exploding star, would have been seen from Earth as
big as the planet  Venus. Image acquisition date:07/22/2022Site:Lake Sonoma, CaliforniaLight pollution:Bortle Scale 3Telescope:Explore Scientific 102 mm ED APO TripletMount:Skywatcher EQM 35 PROCamera:ZWO asi 294MC proFilters:Optolong  LextremeCamera settings:4 minutes.
