Description

This is M1, the Crab Nebula, a Supernova remnant located 6,500 light years away in the Taurus constellation. It was first recorded by Chinese astronomers on July 4, 1054 AD, when the exploding star was bright enough to be seen during the daytime with the naked eye for months! You need a telescope to see it now, of course. This picture was taken from sixty 5-minute images through a light pollution filter.

Enjoy!
