With a bright moon and dwindling astronomical dark, I decided to finally get to M13, having tucked it away as "for one of those nights I can't image anything else". I only wish I'd gotten to it sooner!

Despite having only an hour of useable subs (I tossed a third of them due to poor focus) I was amazed at the high SNR for this target, possibly due to the high contrast. I manually stretched this image, rather than using auto or a preset stretch, and I was careful during the editing process not to blow out any of the stars (at least, the ones that weren't already blown out). I'm pleased with the result!

I'm sure I'll get a few more nights in the months to come where I can add to this and perhaps bring out some of the fainter stars at the edges of the cluster, but for now I'm happy.

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.
