Description

NGC6960 is better known as the Western Veil Nebula or the Witch's Broom, and is a part of the Veil Nebula or the Cygnus Loop. This is a very large supernova remnant in the constellation Cygnus that was caused by a star 20 times more massive than our Sun exploding around 10 to 20 thousand years ago, and covers an area about 6 times wider than the full moon. It is estimated to be about 2400 light years away.
