Description

This was a big but exciting project to capture SHO data on 2 panels during summer short nights.

I used my Canon 200mm paired with the ASI1600MM under heavy LP (SQM 18.3)

Image integration was also epic with 285 O3 frames ; 207Ha and 219 SII but APP made the job easily.

The next challenge was the processing : I opted for HOO / HOO ToneMap / SHO / SHO ToneMap.

The idea was to try as much tonal variation as possible with these 4 common techniques.

Still, I could have added a pinch of SII in the HOO but opted not too.

A few comments on each image

HOO : weak O3 but discernable, red / pink tones

HOO TM : O3 more discernable, brownish area

SHO : O3 is weak and totally overpowered by Ha and S2. Interesting palette even if some may find it too monotone

SHO TM : pretty photogenic, high impact I guess, lots of shades.

I like all 4 images and I’m pretty happy with the end result.

Special mention to my friend Cyber (Victor Van Puyenbroeck) and Jon Rista : thank you for your feedbacks !!!!

Let me know what you think of this project and which image you like most !

CS to all !
