Description

Last week I wasn't particularly happy when I processed this narrowband image of IC443: I only used H and S and discarded the O III data because they were weak and noisy. Call it a professional bias but as a spectroscopist, I always hate when I have to do discard some data because they're bad, no matter how bad they are! So I'm quite happy that I managed to incorporate the O III data in this new picture! From an aesthetic point of view the presence of the O data probably doesn't add much, but I love the tenous blue glowing halo that is now visible in the outer wavefront of this expanig supernova remnant!
