Description

To update for the final revision, I did combine (ditched a few of the 120 sec subs) the two groupings, but in this case I used a different protocol in PI. After calibration with the appropriate darks, etc., I actually took the individual calibrated subs and star aligned all together and integrated and then drizzle integrated to get to the final pre-processed image.

(This is the result of 30, 60 sec subs with gain 90 (Unity) combined with 37, 120 sec subs with gain 0. Not sure what I gained trying this (pun intended), but it was an exercise I wanted to try. Really I was hoping to expand the dynamic range in the final image. Not sure it worked.)

Description: After applying some newly acquired processing techniques (or philosophies) to my Eastern Veil project yesterday, I thought that I would revisit the data that I had for the Western and Pickering's Triangle.

In addition, I also had the challenge and hopefully some advantage of melding 60 second and 120 second subs, in a new way, which I had hoped would boost my end product. The 60 second subs were collected at unity gain, but the 120s were at zero gain. Just something that I thought I would try during the sub acquisition, but not planning on merging the two necessarily. In the end, I think that I could see a bit of an improvement in the raw stacked image at the level of background noise reduction.
