Description

This weekend just gone marks the first time I've used a cooled camera. A few test shots and a handful of not particularly usable images thursday night, then on saturday with the Tarantula and a reasonable set of the Carina nebula. No bias, no flats, 6 lights, 20 darks, and hopefully better collimation/focus, but the jury is still out on that one.

This was a short set of images of the Tarantula Nebula before it sank below the fence line. Besides a couple single shots, first attempt at processing with data from the new camera, following a slightly different set of processes as it has definitely been a while since I've had the chance to play.

I feel as though I have overdone the noise reduction in the background, and could have done with a small amount on the nebula parts. I may re-process on the weekend after I've done the main set from the night.

Overall, I rate my first try with this small set as ok, hopefully I can do better with the Carina processing.
