Description

While most spiral galaxies have two or more arms, NGC 4725 has only one. The main structure consists of a prominent ring of bluish, newborn star clusters with a yellowish central bar structure composed of an older population of stars. Located in Coma Berenices, NGC 4725 is over 100 thousand light years across and is about 40 million light years from Earth. The other spiral galaxy in the image is NGC 4712.
