Description

This is the famous, relatively close by (12 million light years), triplet of galaxies in Ursa Major. The small NGC3077 (left) is affected by the large M81 next to it. Also M82 (top) has activity triggered by M81. Note the weak satellite galaxy "HOLMBERG IX" to the left of M81.

This image is taken with a camera that blocks most of the red H-alpha light and therefore it is hard to see the characteristic red clouds around M82.
