Description

NGC 2841 image processed using the Hubble Legacy data.

This image shows the amazing dusts in the core of NGC 2841 and the stratified nature of the spirals.

I had to decide if a red core was possible for a galaxy and I decided that the red is probably due to concentration of oxidized iron dust in the core, giving the core a red tint. No doubt, an iron and oxygen rich galaxy.

I am probaby wrong, but that is my scientific 'instinct' at this time.

Hydrogen rich areas and globular clusters can be seen everywhere in the different spirals. The image is better seen at high resolution, so click the button to see the amazing details of the HLA data.

The NGC 2841galaxy is located in the constellation Ursa major, located 46 million ly away.
