Description

NGC 7789 is an open cluster located around 7620 light-years away in Cassiopeia, corresponding to an inner zone of the Perseus Arm, that was discovered by Caroline Herschel in 1783.

It is a very rich and concentrated open cluster, formed by several hundred components, and its age is quite advanced, estimated at around 1.7 billion years.

This cluster is also known as the "White Rose" Cluster or "Caroline's Rose" Cluster because when seen visually, the loops of stars and dark lanes look like the swirling pattern of rose petals as seen from above.
