I promised I was going to offer compensation for the data loss, which caused many of you to waste a lot of time in fixing your galleries, and for which I am devastatingly sorry. Even more so because it was a stupid human error on my side.|
Anyway, since this moment, everybody who:
Please remember: if at the end of the year you choose not to renew, your images will not be deleted, held hostage, crippled, hidden, or anything (this is a piece of core philosophy for me)
For people who were already on Premium, I need a little bit more time to offer compensation, I hope you understand.
To everyone else, enjoy your new Premium for a whole year and feel free to upload your whole backlog of past images!

I'm a premium user now. Wow. 😀|
I lost all images on my free account (all four of them). Recovering them took me two minutes. So it feels like $36 worth of subscription is too much. I hardly needed any compensation. Not that I complain. Thank you. 😀

|Thank you Salvatore!|

|As a premium user, I do not wish to be compensated. You've been providing a great service at reasonable cost.|
# 21 Feb, 2020 04:21
I only lost 6 images out of 60something. And they were some of the oldest ones and not very good. No compensation necessary but a nice gesture on your part.|
You are a man of integrity

Well, I am less happy after losing 700 images. I spent a lot of time on this today and it is going to take a long long time and it is not clear how to upload multiple files etc to reproduce what i had before. I feel I should delete some images as I just do not have the energy to fix everything. Not clear how to do that efficiently.

|I only had 4 images uploaded when this happened. Since then I've recovered them all and added few more. Happy to become a Premium member and I'm not going anywhere, I'm staying.|

|Thanks! I have only 3 images, I need good weather and new moon to take benefit of premium membership|

Thankyou Salvatore! Very pleased to receive the Premium Membership, that's a wonderful gesture.|
Just wanted to lend my voice to the others supporting AstroBin at this time - it is a community first and foremost, and though we all love the images, it's the learning from others and sharing the joy of the hobby which makes this place special. I only had a handful of images, some of which were worth reuploading - and I've let a few others go - but it's the wonderful comments and support I've had from AB members which I'm so happy to see has survived the data loss.
Thanyou for your ongoing hard work, and the honesty you've shown in owning the error, we are all human and appreciate what you must have gone through in the last few days.
Long live AstroBin!

You guys 'n' gals are awesome!

I lost only five images that I could re-upload very quickly, but thanks!|
I was pretty sure not to be able to use up my Lite subscription quota. Now I need some clear skies!
# 21 Feb, 2020 13:37
hello Salvatore, I have been premium for several years.as i already asked, i want to be reimbursed. simply and quickly.Thank you
# 21 Feb, 2020 17:38
thanks a lot for the compensation. I lost all my images at first I was realy astonnished about the problem. Restoring was easy for me, I'm just beginner.
# 21 Feb, 2020 21:22
I first must commend you for admitting blame like you did. It would have been easy to put the blame on the ISP or Russian hackers. Although I have a few hundred images I will commence reloading once the dust settles and the blood stops dripping from the walls . I really don't care about compensation.

Hi Salvatore |
im a premium user and lost all 21 of my images , however I do not seek compensation I would rather see ASTROBIN grow strong and rebuild and to do this you can't give away free premium subscriptions , well not to us already paying customers , I think ts good giving free users this as in 12months time they will see the benefits of being a premium user and purchase.

I am a premium member and do not want compensation.
The service you provide the community is exemplary and all in your spare time. Thank you for your dedication.

I am a premium member and do not want compensation. I would like to make a contrubution to help defray some of the cost you are incurring. Please let me know how I can do that.
# 22 Feb, 2020 11:52
I just finished replacing my missing images.
No need for compensation, I appreciate all the work you are doing for this unique astronomical resource called Astrobin!
But how do I get rid of the "Oh No!" message at the top of my page?
All thumbnails are there now.
# 22 Feb, 2020 12:42
Albert van DuinCheck your staging area! Tonight anyway I make the message hideable, since I've been requested this a lot.

# 22 Feb, 2020 13:24
