Rodd is in a certain way correct.
I've more than 3-4 examples of people that up to 2 years ago were catching at maximum 60 likes.
Then started getting in the game liking and commenting whatever is passing in front of their eyes and raised to 150+ likes.

Can it be changed  ? Probably not. Is it happening…yes.

I am an exception to this rule smile
You often like my images but I really never filled the proper form ^_^

if you are on the Home, what I call the main feed are the images immediately below the five forum topics.  These are always in order of the most recent activity which is usually a like.
Really?  I am surprised to learn that.  On my top page, the order of images never seems to change.  A new image appears, and it will be on the top and push other images down, and that's it.  An old image never gets pushed up by recent activities such as like or comments.  I am very certain about this, at least in my case.  Is it because of differences in some user setting?

Wei-Hao,

My "Default Front Page View" is set to "Global Stream".  That would be the default since I've never before seen the Preferences page as far as I know.  I often see images several years old on my Front Page.

Interesting.  Mine is set to be "All uploaded images."  I guess this is the reason.

I think I will keep it this way.  If activities keep moving popular images up, newly uploaded images by beginners and new members can be easily overlooked.  I won't like that.

Thank you for telling me this.

I thought that the new images are "NEW"  and that is why they are at the top of the "feed"  Then again–I have never really thought much about this.  I do know that images I post don't often show up on the feed even the day or the day after I post.  I always thought this was because there were so many images posted that they were far down because of the number.

I think Kevin is right.
Whenever a like is given to an image, it goes on top.

But there has to be a time frame.  If I look at 10 images in 10 minutes and like them all–those images obviously can't all be on top.  And there are hundreds of other people doing the same.  So I can't wrap my mind around how it works!

I am curious what’s the default. Global stream? Or all updated images?

I can see that in the case of global stream, because every new activity will bring an image to the top, popular images can easily grow even more popular, while images taken by new members can be quickly washed away. The makes less visible images even less visible, even if they can be good ones.

My understanding is that the Global Stream reorganizes as actions are taken on an image, with the images having more recent actions at the top.  In a way, images are kept fresh, or reposted if you prefer, by likes.  Agreed, lesser known but very good images can get swamped and lost toward the bottom of the list.

On the other hand, the Big Wall does not function this way.  Only postings show up there.  I'm not sure if image revisions show up or not.  Use the Big Wall to see all of the uploads in the order of their upload date/time.  The order doesn't change with likes and all photographers get only one post per image.

I use the Big Wall to view images "fairly" but wish the thumbnails were as large as the Global Stream though.

Is global  stream  as default  Wei-Hao as I have never changed any settings. It seem if global stream images displayed  in chronological order by time of post or last touch by a user.
