I also have the 294MM as well as the 294MC. In case you haven't tried this yet, I have found that the 294MM (and MC) really, really don't play nice with short exposure calibration frames, especially when trying to calibrate flats/darks etc with bias.

I don't find the same in my calibration procedure, at all. I still use very short flats, 0.1s to 0.5s. With or without darkflats as opposed to bias. Given that CMOS darks are not scalable I'd venture that dropping the bias subtraction operation and replace it with the dark-flats makes sense operationally.

It seems to be a case by case thing with those sensors.  The mottling in particular can make calibrations hell for some people and others don't even notice. Heck, my 294MC HATES my Radian Triad but the MM doesn't mind it, but the SHO ones cause issues instead.  If I've learned anything re: the 294MM/MC is that they're consistently inconsistent with their ability to play nice during calibrating.

In case it helps:  the guy in this thread had the same problem of mismatched binning levels (strangely enough when working on the pinwheel galaxy too).  He seems to have found a workaround.

Y'all, I have apparently solved the problem--a miniscule light leak in the optical train.  I retook my darks with my old Gizmos cover over everything and voila!!  working perfectly so far!

From what I gather from some different threads in Cloudy Nights, the small light leak in my darks offset the entire background values.  To the eye, the master darks (both full sub exposure darks AND the flat darks) looked fine, but because of the different background ADU values, they caused the software to over-compensate, which lead to the vignette-style gradients, and some truly horrendous amp glow starbursts!!  Just tossing that Gizmos cover over the entire scope while taking the darks took care of everything, and I went from the first images to the last.masterLight_BIN-1_EXPOSURE-300.00s_FILTER-Luminance_Mono_2 small.jpgmasterLight_BIN-2_EXPOSURE-300.00s_FILTER-Blue_Mono_2 small.jpgM81 M82 Final small.jpg
