I currently use SharpCap for live viewing and individual image capture.  It does have an excellent autofocus routine but currently lacks other features that Robin Glover will be adding in future versions.  Until that time, I want to try another image acquisition software which has the best autofocus routine- best, meaning a reproducible sharp focus routine.  Given my scope is over 12ft high in my observatory, I need a software that will work well with my auto-focusers.  I briefly tried SGPro and perhaps I just need to get better at it but I found it to be a bit finicky.  I do not have a lot of clear nights, so am curious to ask experiences with the focus routines of these programs before diving into one of them.  I realize all programs have pros and cons but I want to focus (no pun intended) on the capabilities of each program's auto-focus routines.

SGP works well.

Resolve the issues with it. steps and star diameter. Once you have that done, it works all the time, flawlessly.

Keep looking up
