Hello community, I have a sony a58 camera, I have taken several shots of deep space.

But sometimes they come out as grainy, I don't know if it is the telephoto lens that I have, for example, let's say the shots of the moon etc, although I do the process of applying images etc with the star adventurer

My doubt is that if I buy the 72 ed skywatcher, the images would improve a lot?Because I have a sigma apo 300mm lens and the quality is relatively good, but not as a few shots with this tube.

In the camera's iso configuration, I always manage it between 1600 and 3200, but my enormous question is whether it is the sensor or the quality of the lenses.

Many thanks friends! I await your comments!

In replying to your question, you need to provide more information.

If you have your 300 mm lens on a sturdy tripod with a StayWatcher StarAdventurer???

If you are taking photos of the moon, try using ISO 100 and see if you are happier.

If you are taking photos of deep space, then you will need to stack multiple images....
It seems that you can improve with what you have before making a purchase.

Hi Eduardo. Can you post some sample images taken with Sigma 300mm lens ? Skywatcher 72ED is a nice scope, but CA correction is not on the same level as larger 80ED.
You might also consider new small APO refractors like SpaceCat or 61 EDPH.

Hi Eduardo.

I own a 72ED which I occasionally use with a Nikon DSLR.  It's good value for money and lightweight. But might be a challenge to get round stars with long exposures (say 180sec to 300sec) on your Star Adventurer.

Grainy DSLR images will be driven by noise ... primarily thermal dark current noise. I would the worst cases would involve warm conditions, very dim targets, and sky background (with poor SNR). Stacking lots of frames should reduce the noise significantly.

Are you currently using stacking software with your Sony a58 images?
Also, what exposure durations have you been using at iso1600 and iso3200?

Cheers,
Jeff
