Hello everyone, I own a Skywatcher Heq-5, with Rowan Belt mod and with Eq-6's tripod. Do you think that an RC-8 with carbon fiber could fit on it? What do you think about an off axis guide with RC-8?

Without a doubt, an 8" carbon is only around 15-16lbs. Even with a camera youd be only 20lbs and under. Throw in the belt mod and the sturdier tripod you are good to go.

When I had my heq5 pro with Roman belt mod, it didn’t like my 8”RC on it, the clutches kept slipping, so I had the mount hypertuned and it still couldn’t handle it.

Interesting, plenty of people run 10-12 inch newts on this site with the HEQ5. For every horror story theres many more successes. 8)

This is my real fear: buy 1300 euros of RC-8 and have a lot's of problem like the ones you mentioned... Maybe the best choice is stay with my newton 130/650 or maybe buy a 10cm triplet apo.

I would have thought the RC and a 100 Triplet would be about the same weight. Once I tightened my clutches on my HEQ5 (on a pier in an Observatory) it handled my 8" Newt, oag, camera. It is new (8 months) Balance is very important. I also added an ADM saddle, far more solid.

I operate an 8" RC on an EQ6-R. The mount can handle the scope, but i would say its near the maximum, so i am not sure if the heq5 pro could handle it. I would be sceptical about this.
