Hi!
I'm thinking of buying the RedCat 51 by Williom Optics. I have a nikon d5300 dslr which is a crop sensor camera. In william optics' page, thay say that the RedCat 51 is compatible with full frame and crop sensor cameras. What adapter do I need for my camera to be able to attach it to the redcat? Do I need something more than an adapter?
I'm very new to this and don't understand a damn about telescopes..? I've done astrophotography for 1,5 years now and I am only 17 years old...
Thank you in advance!

You just need an M48 to T Mount adapter for a Nikon camera.

The Redcat is a great scope. I have one and use it with a ZWO 1600. With a DSLR you have even more versatility being able to shoot daytime terrestrial objects.

There have been reports that if you use a standard t ring. The 1 mm backfocus is affected. So it is recommended that you actually get the t ring from Williams optics.
What mount as you using?

There have been reports of this, but I have seen otherwise. I use a regular old 16.5mm adapter I use on my other OTA and it works perfect. I have barely perceptible coma in mine. You can view my Heart Nebula image and see for yourself. I either won the optical lottery, or WO has made some changes since their first run. My scope was made on 7/18.

I meant the actual mount the telescope and the camera would go on... additionally the Nikon t ring is all you need for a 48mm connection. They make 42mm and 48mm. The cat is a 48

If your vendor offers an optical test of the telescope before they send it to you I'd recommended you opt for that. They seem a bit hit and miss. Most are fine, but some of them are not collimated correctly.
