I use to have Celestron Advanced, horrible mount, A LOT of mechanical, hardware and software problems. Now I have Skywatcher HQ5-Pro, great medium mount, very nice and reliable. CHX-L has a good reputation but I would choose Skywatcher EQ-8, considering my bad experience with Celestron. Their tech department is a disaster, they have no idea what they are doing. smile

Celestron makes very good mounts but with a very bad quality check (I think there's actually none). So if you buy a Celestron mount and that works perfectly you may consider yourself extremely lucky. I have a CGEM-DX since more than 5 years now, it gave me and still gives me troubles but I solved many of them and I have an Hypertune kit ready to be applied. Also Celestron is known to have better software than Skywatcher and the All Stars Polar Alignment is a great feature.

I can't speak for the EQ8 but I've heard only good things about that mount. if I had to choose between the CGX-L and EQ8 i'd definitely go for an EQ8.
