All–No multiple entries–Only one entry per person please.  Also, it is not necessary to include a # for the post any longer.  Tolga left his number off, so the numbers no longer reflect the correct image if they are used.  That's OK–we can judge without the #.

Can we lock or delete this thread? Op is clearly a troll.    smile

I kindly agree, what an unbelievable amount of misbehavior from OP on the previous thread only to be following it up here. Salvatore may have approved it (in the interest of not deciding things too much, as any good moderator would do), but it's highly inappropriate to hijack the forums to be establishing your own "contest".

there was no bisbehavior at all. I simply voiced an opinion. I live in a democracy. Since when is voicing an opinion bad behavior. You and Jonathan MacCollum call people names which is contrary to the etiquette of forum posting and you should be banned from this thread for calling me names.  Salvatore, would you please take note? Now again I will say, if you don’t like the thread, stay off it. No body is usurping anything. And nobody is forcing anyone to participate.  I started this thread for those people who would like to participate.  All are welcome to participate. You remind me of the person who turns on the telly and complains about the show.  My advice…change the channel

Voicing an opinion is fine (just like I just did, even though when I do it, you try to get me banned from the thread, which of course won't happen- where's your love of democracy now?) But you take it farther than that with incredibly inappropriate comments and actions, which is exactly why so many people have been against your behavior.

I did not call you a single name, and you couldn't provide a single example to the contrary. I only described your actions (inappropriate, hijacking, etc.), which you're proving were correct.

Well there goes that beloved democracy. You don't actually believe yourself, do you?

I never said anything to the contrary…?

I don't need this advice. You accusing me of calling you names, which I didn't, and then comparing me to this or that shows how you're not willing to listen, something I had already gathered before. I know you'll just disagree with me and try to make up more accusations after I post this, but I just wanted to voice how inappropriate your behavior has been. Someone even said you do the exact same thing on another site. Yikes. Anyways, I've voiced my opinion (which seems to be not okay to you unless it's yours), and I'll leave it at that (unless you make any more false accusations, which I have a fair right to defend). My intention is simply to point that out, not to ruin the spirit of the hobby. So to make sure I don't do that very thing, I'll only respond if you push more false accusations, otherwise consider my opinion voiced, and that's that. No hard feelings from me to you, although apparently it's not the same the other way unfortunately.

Please take your bickering off this public space. AstroBin has private messages as well. Any more of this pointless back-and-forth and I will close this topic and the offender might see their account suspended.

Very true, I forgot about the private message option! I should have sent my previous response to him that way from the start, my apologies on that.  I am silent on this public forum henceforth, as again, getting into the previous bickering was the opposite of my desire.

Please see my complaint on the contest thread (since I am quoting from that thread), about rules being enforced which are not in the rules written at the start of the contest.

By quoting Mr, MacCalloms use of the word "troll" and saying you agree is defacto calling me a troll.

Excuse me but you seem to have done it again Rodd.  You have made a quote above with my name on it - I did not write that section you have quoted.  I recall you doing the same on another thread to Steve Milne.

The quote above with my name on it was in fact written by Pianoplayer.

I ask this question? Why on earth is a IMOD or Likes or TP So important to all of you. I am here to learn and post my images , I am far from being a professional photographer but I enjoy what I do. You all sound like a bunch of high school kids who didn’t make the football team or the cheerleader squad. Please people be proud of your images no matter what other people think and do this for self gratification. There’s a whole subject on likes and the same that I think is ridiculous. If your not here to learn and post your beautiful images then why on earth are you here. Just to win a contest ? Wow if no one notices you here and no badges are given to you it makes no difference if your goal is to be an armature astronomer.CS
Chris

Chris!
I think most people are competitive. Not just amateur astronomers and astrophotographers but almost everybody wants feedback and reward for the struggle creating value. Astrophotography needs a lot of motivation because it is a difficult thing to do. Some people gain their motivation from likes, positive feedback and prizes from regulated contests, some gain it from developing and creating better images. But these are the same things: challenge. When you say, you are here to learn, you challenge yourself and you compare your own images to each other, while others ask the community to compare their images to others images. But all in all this is just the same challenge to gain motivation for development. This is the prize for the cost (effort, time, money). You can't say it is ridiculous just because you gain motivation from a different kind of challenge. Especially because you learn from those people who are compete each-other to develop. You say it is ridiculous but you gain the benefit of their struggle.

Péter

That is quite correct, Carole.  See my last post on page 5 of the (now closed) 'Likes' thread.

Closing thread as a preventive measure since Rodd decided to cancel the contest anyway.
