I certainly appreciate your consideration of Mac users. Thanks. We need an app like this. I'll give it a try when I get some time this week. Cheers and clear skies! |

Hello all, I am pleased to announce a new major release of LuckyStackWorker, version 5. It is now available for download from github: https://github.com/wkasteleijn/luckystackworker/releases/latest Besides a version for Windows and MacOS, there is now also a version for Linux! More info and the user manual can be found on : https://www.wilcokas.com/luckystackworker What is new: 1. The application now contains a seperate tab for various denoising options. It is now possible to apply denoising in 2 passes, using different filters. The first pass contains a new filter: Ian's noise reduction. This is in fact a filter from the well know G'MIC plugin for Gimp. I've used this filter for years already, so I now decided to integrate it directly into LuckyStackWorker. To illustrate the effect of this filter I've included the animation below. This filter is very effective in removal of noise speckles without any loss of details. The 2nd pass of filters contain other denoising filters that work better on artefacts and are meant for smoothening (such as the well known Savitzky-Golay 2D smoothening filter). 2. The Contrast & light tab now contains a new "Equalize locally" slider. This is again a filter from G'MIC is very effective at bringing forward faint details without affecting details that are already very distinct. The animation below shows the effect of applying this filter. In addition to this there are several other changes and bugfixes: - Added dispersion deviation indicators to the dispersion corrector - Fixed bug in histogram not opening for monochrome image stacks - More compact layout - Revised processing core, resulting in a better (more quiet) user experience - Upgraded all library and framework dependencies to the latest versions. I would especially like to thank Russ Williams for helping me out with the Linux release and for testing the application extensively on many different linux distro's. I hope you enjoy the usage of the new version. We've done our best to test everything, but should you encounter a bug or you have any suggestions for improvement don't hesitate to contact me via a private message. Clear skies! Wilco. |

I have just released a new version 5.2.0 of LuckyStackWorker with several new features and improvements. This version provides better support for planetary photographers using monochrome camera's with a filterwheel. By sequentially opening the red, green and blue image stacks it will automatically combine those into a single RGB color stack. From that point on all applied filters will work on the 3 channels concurrently. In addition to this also the following improvements have been made:
Along with some small bugfixes. I sure hope you enjoy using this latest release. As always it can be downloaded from the Github release page: https://github.com/wkasteleijn/luckystackworker/releases/latest I also wrote a simple user manual that covers all the features: https://www.wilcokas.com/luckystackworker/manual Please let me know if you have any suggestions for improvements or you found a bug by sending my a private message on this forum! Clear skies! Wilco. |
