Hi all I'm considering to jump into monochrome photography (for now I have been using a OSC, the ASI 183MC Pro). I'm hearing good things about the recently released ASI294MM Pro, especially now they have unlocked the 1x1 binning mode which makes it perfect as well for shorter FL (and very similar to the 183MC I have been using). Does anyone have experience with this relatively new camera? I was thinking of the 1600MM as well of course, but this one seems better in all aspects (also a larger sensor, which is also an important factor for me to jump to a new camera). I know that there are more recent ones, like the 2600MM, but these are out of budget unfortuantely. thank you! |

I am very happy with my ASI294mm. I originally got it for my longer focal length scopes, but the 2.315 pixels works great for my ZS81. Keep in mind this lowers the well depth, but I have not saturated pixels yet. I came off the QHY 178m, and think it’s a much better camera. There are quite a few lengthy threads about the camera over on cloudy nights also. |
