Shame on me : I begun posting here before having presenting myself !

I have to thank all this great community : I am learning and it is very, very, helpful to look at the wonders that are posted here. Seeing what can be done, what I like and what I like less is a permanent source of learnings for me.

My name is Jean-Baptiste and I am 52 (in February 2022). After a 30 years break, I went back to visual 3 years ago with a 300/1500 Dobsonian.
2 years ago, I began EAA with an ASI533 on my Dobson, with zero knowledge "digital in astronomy". I love to be able to get what was pictures of my dream when I was a teenager. I ordered a dedicated astrophoto setup to Lacerta and I received it last summer, I decided to go to mono with an ASI2600MM.
A special thanks  to @tommy_nawratil who was very helpful in his advice for my setup.

I had been frustrated at the beginning, but a few weeks ago, I changed my coma corrector for the Paracorr type II and now, I am happy with the result on the acquisition :-)
I feel more confident with my processing also, especially SHO which is very new to me.

My first two uploads corresponds to the very first acquisitions with this coma corrector, hope you will enjoy them (Rosetta and Thor) :

Welcome Jean-Baptiste !-)

I too got started in astrophotography via EAA. Started with a rig involving my old C8 and a laptop running Sharpcap. Quickly discovered I like processing the data as much as acquiring it and took the leap.

Clear skies and enjoy :-)

Thanks for your support  @Tom Boyd & @Alex

the same for me, I must admit that I like playing with all the process of PixInsight, trying to discover some new things or trying to do the same in a better way ;-)

I still haven't taken the plunge into PixInsight.  I started with DSS and Photoshop.  I used the free trial for APP, but I didn't particularly care for it; however, to be fair I didn't particular give it a chance due to frustrations I had with it.  It seems like it has some great capabilities if I took the time to learn it.  For some reason APP wouldn't always run well on my computer, despite having significantly higher specs than the recommended, causing me to close and open the program until it was stable.  Lately, I've been using nothing but Affinity Photo, but I still eye PixInsight as something to try.

I looked up Bouchemaine as I was not familiar, not that I'm familiar with many cities in France, but I like to learn about new places.  I used to work with colleagues in France on a daily basis at a previous position in my company as our sister factory is in Arc-les-Gray.  I only had the opportunity to travel to France for work once, but I loved my time there.  I still say the best pizza I ever had was in Gray (I love food and usually describe places with what I ate).  In general the food was great, but that pizza was amazing.  It looks like there are some waterways by Bouchemaine.  I love being out on the water, whether it's on a canoe or fishing from a boat or the shore.

Clear Skies!

Houch, I think you would love Bouchemaine @Alex : which means in french "the mouth of the Maine", I am leaving 500m far from the crossing of Maine and Loire river.
This is not perfect for astrophotography (I am used to all anti dew system ^^) but great for ... wines !

My Avatar is a picture of a friend of mine who is a winemaker ( "Les Noels de Montbenault" from Richard Leroy), one the greatest event for "natural wines" happens in Angers every year ...

We are close enough to the see, fresh fish and sea food avery week end, and plenty of delicious thinks to enjoy ;-)

It definitely sounds like I would enjoy Bouchemaine!

I live south and west of New Orleans in Louisiana in the United States.  We're pretty much surrounded by marshlands here.  This is every imaging session for me ;).
