Hello everyone.
Im Josh, and im completely new to telescopes and looking at the night sky. Im 36 years old and have 4 children ages 15,12,10, and 3.
I am currently just exploring a hobby that i can enjoy with the kids. However , i tend to dive very deep very fast in any hobby ive ever had.

My current telescope which ive only got to look through at night one time so far is a skywatcher 250p flextube dobsonian .
what kind of photos will i be able to achieve with this equipment? Ive not seen many when i google them. Im guessing this is a very nice telescope but i want to know the reality of me actually getting some great pictures and great views.
I would love to be able to get the most out of this telescope but i really dont know its full capabilities.
if its worth it, whats a camera i should look into?
is there better eye pieces that i should look at to get the best viewing out of it.
im completely new so i apologize for being so needy. I have to start somewhere.
thanks in advance
-Josh

Welcome to Astrobin Josh! If you like to learn fast, then this is a great place to do it. There is LOTS of expertise here and you'll get plenty of help.

Your dob sounds great for introducing your children to astronomy. 250 is a decent aperture, so they will be able to see plenty. It's wonderful to introduce young people to our wonderful hobby.

As for photography, dobs are mostly considered 'visual' scopes. Having said that, it's perfectly possible to do astrophotography with them - especially of solar system objects. DSOs are probably more challenging. But I am no expert on this topic (as I don't own a dob) - so I am sure you will get some better advice on this point from others.

Enjoy!

Josh,  Not sure what part of Ohio you are from, but you should check out the John Glenn Astronomy Park in Hocking Hills near Logan Ohio.

Oh, and welcome to Astrobin
