I'm new to the Astrobin community but I have been inspire by the amazing work here. I have been into landscape and nature photography for almost a decade and am now trying my hand at astrophotography. This past weekend after several nights I finally figured out autoguiding, plate solving, etc. And took my first images this past weekend of the Andromeda galaxy and Orion Nebula. Advise and critiques are welcome! |

Great to see you here, Alan, I had a look at your gallery. No advise, no critique necessary. Both images are superb. Cheers Robert |

Hi Alan and Welcome, I joined astrobin not that long ago but am a novice. Like you, I shoot with a Samyang 135mm. I use it on a Skywatcher Star Adventurer. I started out doing luna and planetary images using my Skywtacher 12" goto reflector coupled with an ASI224MC. I find widefield deep space great fun but post processing has taken me a lot of time and I'm still learning. Topaz denoising, Gradiant Xterminator and Star Tools have really made a difference when processing with Photoshop. I have also just recently shot Andromeda and Orion. I think I must have processed about 50 times to get something I could be satisfied with. Good luck and keep in touch so that we can compare notes every once in a while. Regards, Paul |

You can check with Fleishman Planetarium at UNR. Also I know WNC in Carson has monthly viewings at their planetarium. There are some of us in the Carson Valley, but I'm not aware of any organized group Dave |

paul: *Sounds great. I tend to go all in, sometimes to the detriment of my finances and I bought a Williams Optics Z103mm and Skywatcher EQ6. It was a steep learning curve but a lot of fund. I do a lot of landscape/nature photography so I have a Canon 6D and EOS R. I may have the 6D modified but I'm going to use it for a few more months and see how it goes. The Topaz dentist looks good, I'll need to look into that I'm pretty comfortable with photoshop but I just got astro tools and that has made some things easier. Clear skies! |

What’s your Bortle rating out there? My wife regularly goes to Reno for bowling tournaments, so I’m wondering if it would be worth it to accompany her with a telescope (NOT TO BOWL, LOL). |

What’s your Bortle rating out there? My wife regularly goes to Reno for bowling tournaments, so I’m wondering if it would be worth it to accompany her with a telescope (NOT TO BOWL, LOL). Most of Reno is 5/6, but there are areas with class 2/3 skies within 1 hour. |
