Hello astrobin fellow astrophotographers, I am Guy and have been in astronomy for a couple of decades now (mainly as an observer), but just landed on astrobin after several weeks of astrophotography during confinement at home. I live in the highlands of Santiago Chile and the Andes are my backyard (well, almost quite literally). Although that sounds great, I live in a light polluted area and my neighbors barely understand what I am doing sitting in the backyard on cold nights contemplating my laptop computer and telescope rig for hours. I am one of those that are fighting city lights to capture the sky just like most of you people do. I lived in Canada for years and also in Chile. I am familiar with both north and southern sky. Yet, still a lot to learn from the experts around here. Hope I see you all sometime in the future on an imaging session during a clear transparent night |

My neighbors are similarly flummoxed! Well, you may have bright lights at home, but so many nice places to drive to for imaging. I'm dreaming of putting a scope in Atacama! Welcome to Astrobin! Kevin |

Kevin Morefield:you are right Kevin. As soon as it is possible, I will drive a few hours north for pristine dark skies. I will leave my narrowband filters at home and go for full spectrum! |

Hi Guy,Welcome from Southern California...thank you Dave. Great location there, you can easily drive to the desert or mountains. The last time I was in LA, I rented a car and drove all the way to OPT to buy some goodies. It was worth the trip |

Hi Guy,Welcome from Southern California...Regards,thank you Dave. Great location there, you can easily drive to the desert or mountains. The last time I was in LA, I rented a car and drove all the way to OPT to buy some goodies. It was worth the trip Hi Guy, Yes OPT is just down the road, I think they are just doing internet and phone sales these days. From the beach its a few hours drive to the desert for winter imaging, and the mountains for summer imaging. Regards, Dave |
