Whats up fellas,

I am a welder from southern Alberta who now attends university in Montreal. I'm in my mid 20's which from what I can see puts me on the younger end of this hobbies demographic.

This is a hobby that I sort of just fell into as originally I just wanted to rent a telescope to check out the Mars opposition, and it kind of just snowballed from there. Funny how that works.

I messed around with some planetary imaging (as in, holding my phone to an eyepiece) in October and December but I didn't start seriously imaging until the new year after buying decent equipment throughout December. So as far as DSOs are concerned, I have only been doing this for about two months.

My favourite image of mine so far is either the Bow Tie Nebula or the "wide field" of the Bubble Nebula.

Bow Tie Nebula

Bubble Nebula and Neighbours

Hopefully one day I can start putting out some images of the quality that you guys do, but in the meantime I am just happy to share what I manage to cook up when I can!

Welcome aboard and nice job on your images! Nice to see the young ones getting into this. I live in Montreal too (much older than you) and enjoy shooting through the Bortle 8 polluted skies; makes for a great challenge!

Keep at it; wonderful and rewarding hobby.

Cheers.

Hey sorry for leaving this so late, and thanks!

Although nothing can beat truly dark skies, it's amazing what can be done through the kind of light pollution we have to deal with now. I definitely picked a good time to get into this hobby.

I really love your image of Messier 81 and  Bode's Galaxy, I can't believe you took that in Montreal!

Thank you! Galaxies are especially tough from light-polluted skies; I plan to double the integration time of several I took last year this coming spring.

Don't be afraid to try imaging various subjects from the city; surprising what effort and patience can do. Have a look at my recent images of M31; one taken from a true Bortle 2 dark sky (2 hrs 40 min integration) and then from Bortle 8 Montreal a month later (7 hrs 32 min integration).

Cheers.
