A 1,000,000 trillion class action law suit should be initiated.
Damages are far greater than the good.

i saw the satellite link yesterday and its low and scary.

What kind of weapons are part of this system? Lasers ?

This is very sickening for my sole.

my guess, the end of astronomy is near.

A bit of good news, a group of Astronomers are taking legal action against this:

Bogdan Borz:
You cannot frame this issue as "satellites" vs "hobby". It is a problem for all astronomy, scientific astronomy. It is a huge problem for space junk and agglomeration (https://www.cnet.com/news/esa-spacex-starlink-satellite-nearly-collides-with-european-aeolus-satellite/). It is a problem for ground based observation and professional astronomy(https://twitter.com/89Marvaz/status/1196356715270291456).The problem is that this is not regulated, Tesla had talks with Astronomical societies, but as far as I know they did not decrease the luminosity of their satellites. Any petition should emphasize the importance of the dark sky for humanity, science and fauna (light pollution is an ecological issue). If we declare some mountains or natural places protected, UNESCO heritage sites, how come the sky can be the playground of one company or a few companies only interested in increasing their profits and controlling internet traffic? The sky belongs to all. Starlink and the LEO satellites to follow will affect everyone, not only people living around Tesla's headquarters.

you are completely right! they only want to increase their profit without thinking on the mankind!
it's so sad cause space will be covered with metal structures. we are covering our knowledge, science and nature.
bruh, i don't even know what to do. let's sign that petition and make noise! let's notify companies, websites, people, everyone!
the astronomical community must be heard, as well as our nature must be protected.

together, we are bigger than profits!

The link to the petition I posted on page 1 has now gone up to 1063 (it was only about 510 I think when I first posted it up).

Keep telling your friends to sign it, post it on other forums and let any retailers you know, know about it and suggest they start their own campaign as well since they stand to lose business.

Here is the latest IAU press release:

Understanding the Impact of Satellite Constellations on Astronomy

A summary of the findings and of the actions that have so far been undertaken is presented in a specific IAU Theme.

Satellite constellations for broadband internet do not seem to be avoidable as soon they are in reach economically. Internationally accepted Regulations will be required to limit brightness of satellites in order to force companies to develop efficient mitigation strategies. These will increase cost for constellations, and delay return on invest. An acceptable downside if on the other hand astronomy and natural dark skies could be saved imo.

Anyone please make as much noise as possible, sign petitions etc. !!! CS

I have read, documented and seen that many companies have planned satellite launches, which once in orbit will light up simultaneously for advertising purposes. Advertisements clearly visible to the naked eye during the day and night.Personally, I don't think this will happen, but being that the trails of satellite constellations are already a problem, nothing is impossible, which causes me distress.
