Hello everyone,

I propose you a quick and simple tutorial explaining how to correct during stacking a difference in framing between several series of images on the same object.

This allows you to keep the maximum signal on the main object by stacking all raw images, while avoiding excessive cropping.
On my personnal website : https://millenniumphoton.com/rattraper-une-erreur-de-cadrage-a-lempilement/

Of course, this method is only "catch-up" and it is always better to be careful to frame your different sessions in the same way, but it can help in many cases (and also avoid cropping even minimally when the framing difference is limited).

The tutorial is written in French, but with automatic translation (accessible by clicking on the English flag directly on the page), English speakers will be able to enjoy it too!

I hope it will be useful for you !

Clear sky,

JB

JB

Very interesting. There are some steps where I don't know what are you exactly doing, but I suppose that is due to the automatic translation instead of the write up so I will give a carefully reading. Thanks for sharing!

Thanky ou very much Jean-Baptiste
Your tutorial came just in time for me. I used it to match my two datasets of the Veil nebula. I didn't got that perfect as you did in your example, but it worked (https://www.astrobin.com/f9w034/).
Thank you and CS

Thanks Ulli_K ; glad it could have been usefull to you !
As mentioned in the tutorial, one usefull tip is to use the rejection_low image as a mask in order to make some precise adjustements in the bck level during processing ; might help you to optimize the transitions.
