Revision title: I felt this image has "more", so I ran a denoise routine (NoiseXterminator) in Pixinsight and recropped the image.

Description

This image is the second chapter in my first imaging trip to Sandilands park since last fall (about 6 months).  (First light for the AP GTO900 mount and the SW 120 esprit refractor).   This image is a simple stack of 21 subs at 300 seconds, with some very basic green removal and cropping in PI, no deconvolution, GAME script treatment etc.  I recognize the image of M51 and its dwarf companion are a red herring, my apologies.

I was inspired to try to capture some distant objects (IC4285 and IC4284) to achieve a personal record for distance.  I couldn't plate solve for them but knew they were close to M51...  if I had the field correctly oriented, I may have been more lucky.  IC4285 may be even further away vs IC4284 - 1.131 billion lyrs or 258Mpc

So - I readjusted my search to include the much more accessible IC4263.  Its only 39.6 Mpc or 129.1 mlyr distant.  Still, a personal record.

I shot this through a bunch of cloud early on in our session, but I think it turned out ok.

Testing and tweaking, we imaged until 5 am, packed up and drove home.

EDIT -> I was also glad to capture some of the details in M51 and NGC 5195 - especially in the cores of these galaxies.   These are weakly interacting galaxies -> for a more comprehensive explanation of their interaction please visit Gary Imm's recent version and detailed input as to likely evolution of the two galaxies' current shape.

I will try to process this later in the week to draw some extra colour and detail from the data.

Thanks for looking!  Clear skies to all
