Description

This small planetary nebula is located 18,000 light years away in the constellation of Lyra at a declination of +35 degrees.  It spans 25 arc-seconds in our apparent view, which corresponds to a diameter of 2.5 light years.  This is one of the more distant PN that I have imaged.  It is almost 10x further away than the ring nebula.

The structure shows a thick torus of oxygen and hydrogen emission, slightly biased towards the oxygen side.  The hydrogen extends further out, creating the red rim.  A small star is seen at the top of the PN.

The progenitor star does not seem to be visible at the center of the PN.
