Description

NGC 1300 is one of the best (IMO) barred spirals in the sky.   A bit of a low placement for us in the northern hemisphere, it rises to just less than 39 degrees south altitude at the CAC site in southern AZ where the original frames of this data was captured.    Subsequently, a lot of frames were added at home in NM.

The galaxy is ~60+ million light years distant, and is about 1/2 the Milky Way's size.   It's a member of the Eridanus Cluster, which contains around 200 galaxies.
