NGC 3503 is a bright and small (~3′ in diameter) optical emission nebula in the constellation of Carina , ionized by early B-type stars belonging to the open cluster Pis 17.
It is seen projected onto an extended region of medium brightness in Hα known as RCW 54.
This enormous nebular region lies in the direction of the Car OB2 association and parts of it may be ionised by stars in that association.

This SHO-image was acquired with the ASA500N telescope and FLI PL16803 camera from Telescope Live in El Sauce Observatory, Chile.

Total integration time: 260 minutes
SHO 9:9:8 subs of 600s with each narrowband filter.

Processing with Astro Pixel Processor, Photoshop CC with AstroPanel Pro, Astronomy Tools, Topaz Sharpen AI and Denoise Projects 3 plug-ins.
