Description

I had an entire week of clear skies, so I took advantage of it all and went as deep as I could with this subject. For the LRGB portion I got 23hrs worth of data and if I can figure out how to properly process the H-alpha, I can add another 15hrs. The H-alpha is rich in this galaxy and going so long on that channel can add tremendously to this.

This is also the first big project with my new NexDome observatory. It really allowed me to use every minute of clear sky time and still get a good nights sleep. Also there were a couple of nights that wind got up to 10-15mph and the dome protected the scope from bouncing around. As a result, my Lum data was pretty sharp for my location.

As for the H-alpha addition, any tips or links to tutorials would be great. I processed this entirely in PI first doing the Lum, then the RGB, then combining it to LRGB. After tweaking, I tried to add the H-alpha here. I am sure that is my problem. But I am still learning the processing side. I am very confident I got good data, besides doing MureDenoise right off the bad, no NR was needed.

Description: Took a crack at processing the 15hrs H-alpha data into the LRGB of this. Big thanks to Luca for pointing me in the right direction with a solid tutorial on how to properly combine Ha into RGB.
