Description

NGC5643 is a little spiral galaxy in Lupus, the Wolf. Different reports have listed it as a distance of 37-40 million lightyears away and approx 55k lightyears across (i.e. a little over 1/2 of our Milky Way). This spiral is a loner and a small target in the Southern Hemisphere which makes is rather uninspiring to most astrophotographers (as such few pictures of it). However it's a nice little challenge to acquire, then to process it.

The image was taken with the following specs :-

Takahashi µ250CRS @ native F10 2500mm FL
ASA DDM60 Std (all sky modelling , no guiding)
ZWO ASI6200MM Pro sensor chilled to -10C, Bin1x1 (yes way oversampled), 0 Gain 50 Offset
50x darks
50x flat darks for each LRGB channel
50x flats for each LRGB channel
452x 60sec Lum
22x 180sec Red
43x 180sec Green
43x 180sec Blue
Total = shy of 13 hrs
