NGC 7822 is a young star forming complex in the constellation of Cepheus. The complex encompasses the emission region designated Sharpless 171, and the young cluster of stars named Berkeley 59. The complex is believed to be some 2,600–3,260 lightyears distant, with the younger components aged no more than a few million years.
The brighter portion of the nebula is categorized as Cederblad 214 (Ced214). Within Ced214 there are many regions of "elephant trunk" structures created as a result of gas being blown away by UV radiation from one of the brightest UV sources in the nebula, the star BD+66 1673.

On the left of NGC 7822, Sharpless 2-170 - sometimes referred to as the 'Little Rosette Nebula' - can be seen, an emission nebula that is around 7,500 light years away in the constellation of Cassiopeia.

This Hubble colour palette image (SHO) is acquired with the Takahashi FSQ-106ED refractor and FLI PL16803 camera from Telescope Live in IC Astronomy Observatory, Oria, Spain.

Total integration time 300 minutes
SHO: 10 sub-frames of 600s with each narrowband filter.

Processing with AstroPixelProcessor, Photoshop CC with AstroPanel Pro, Astronomy Tools, Topaz Sharpen AI and NoiseXTerminator plug-ins.
