Transit Observation of Exoplanet Qatar-2 b

Description

I've been considering having a go for an exoplanet transit for quite some time and now I have my equipment automated now was the time.

On May 10th/11th the night was clear after some heavy downpours and Qatar-2b in Virgo transited with a light drop of 0.037 of a mag across the mag 13.4 star.

I had tried previously on WASP-113 b with no success as the light drop was some 0.008 of a mag. Processing the data with AstroImageJ was a bit of a learning curve but there a lot of online help was available.

The data is noisy without doubt but I think clearly shows the transit occurring close to the predicted times, the constancy of the comparison stars was also good evidence. Next time I will use the camera unbinned and defocus more to spread the light across more pixels, hopefully this will improve the data. I realise some may feel this is not for AstroBin but several others have posted their results, I think we should encourage all kinds of astroimaging! Hope you like it CS Rob.
