Description

IC 410 is an emission nebula located in the constellation Auriga. It is also known as the Tadpole Nebula due to its distinctive shape, which resembles a tadpole swimming through space. The nebula is approximately 12,000 light years away from Earth and spans an area of about 100 light years. It is composed of glowing hydrogen gas, which has been ionized by the radiation from nearby hot stars. The Tadpole Nebula is also home to a young star cluster, which is believed to have formed within the nebula. The cluster is estimated to be around 4 million years old and contains dozens of massive, luminous stars. IC 410 is a popular target for astrophotographers due to its intricate structure and vibrant colors.
