Description

The (other) butterfly nebula is just a portion of the Sadr region, located in the constellation Cygnus at 4,000 light-years away from Earth. The intricate patterns in the bright gas and dark dust are caused by complex interactions between interstellar winds, radiation pressures, magnetic fields, and gravity.

This was processed using the Hubble Palette with minor modifications to the curves. It's refreshing to go for a bright target.

Clear Skies!
