Description

I am back in business after nearly 2 months out due to bushfire risk, smoke and dust here in Australia where I live. It has been the most horrendous situation as I am sure many of you have seen on the news. I was little affected compared to so many who lost homes and a number of people who lost their lives.

I want to thank all of you who expressed your concern, best wishes and support for me over this timeframe. I hope the rest of the summer is less problematic and that I can continue to pursue my passion and perhaps bring you some pleasure when I can produce a decent image.

Yesterday morning, for this first image since I reinstalled my equipment, I had surprisingly good seeing considering that Jupiter was at an altitude of ~ 20 degrees, which allowed a much more detailed capture than the previous day, which wasn't worth publishing. The GRS was also rotating into view. The EZ looks very active on its northern border with the NEB, with multiple festoons, whilst to the south where it borders the SEB it is rather quiescent and distinctly whiter in colour.

It will be interesting to see how Jupiter's atmosphere evolves over this year.
