Description

This Astrobin Debut Object is a spiral galaxy located 170 million light years away in the constellation of Camelopardalis at a declination of +73 degrees. The brighter inner section of the galaxy spans 65,000 light years, but its overall diameter is about twice that size. Our view of the galaxy is about 30 degrees from face-on.

The core of this galaxy is almost perfectly round, without even a hint of a bar. The two strong galaxy arms are faint but easy to trace for over 2 complete revolutions.

The faint oddly structured galaxy above is UGC 4634. It is about the same distance away as IC 520, but the minimal amount of disturbance in IC 520 suggests to me that they are not interacting.
