Description

NGC 1999 is located in the constellation Orion, south of the great Orion Nebula. It's a reflection nebula which is illuminated by the variable star V380 Orionis. In the image, it's the bluish area near center with a dark, inverted T shaped area. Right next to this dark area is the variable star V380 Orionis. The area also contains a copious amount of red emission nebula and bright red knots which are HERBIG-HARO objects. A second unnamed reflection nebula is on the right side of the image below a bright blue star. It looks more yellowish. This image is a composite combing 35hrs of data taken through Luminance, Red, Green, Blue, 5nm Ha and 3nm OIII filters. Thanks for taking a look
